Shumway House, Cooperstown

Cherry Valley Home

Location Cooperstown, New York
Scope Interior and Exterior Rehabilitation
Year 2018

This iconic Cooperstown home is one room deep, upstairs and down, with a staircase in the center and a kitchen off the back. We know from architectural evidence in the attic that it is at least the second addition in that location.  The home had some closets and bathrooms added over the years which we changed to improve the flow of the layouts. Two new bathrooms were added allowing each of the the three bedrooms to have their own bathroom.

Original hardware, mantels, and woodwork were restored where ever possible. Note the original brick in the four fireplaces and textures in the wood surfaces. The kitchen was completely remodeled and, taking advantage of the beautiful light, there is a large area for dining in the kitchen. Two patios were added outside and the porches were replaced.
